Viridian Apartments launches new Reading building following £800K refurbishment.

Viridian Apartments is delighted to announce the official launch of their new serviced apartment building in central Reading, following an extensive £800K refurbishment project.

With the recent portfolio addition of another building in April alone - 88a Tooley Street – Viridian Apartments is continuing with its ambitious portfolio expansion and development plans.

Viridian Apartments CEO, Dominic Sherry said, “We are absolutely delighted to be adding Reading Central to our ever-growing portfolio of serviced accommodation. Following a £800K full renovation, our new Reading Central block of 44 units is part of our growth strategy of 140 new units in 2021. Viridian Apartments continues to put customers first as we build out our fabulous team to support our growth in 2021 and beyond.”

The Reading Central development comprises 44 units of studio, one- and two-bedrooms. Each has been beautifully refurbished and offers spacious, self-contained living for business and leisure guests looking for short or long stays.

The interiors team at Viridian Apartments has stamped their signature style on each apartment in turn – a style famous for its contemporary, design-led features whilst offering the comforts and convenience of home. Brand colours feature throughout, complemented by accent copper hints and geometric statement pieces. Specially commissioned artwork adorns the walls. The design is emulated throughout the building in all communal areas.

In a bold move away from traditional serviced apartment offerings, Viridian Apartments Reading Central also offers a multifunctional communal area on the ground floor including a café for guests and zoned spaces perfect for working or socialising. A pretty outdoor seating area is also provided.

An in-house team resides at the property providing 24/7 support and tailored concierge upon request.

As with all Viridian Apartments apartments, guests can be assured of a safe stay in Reading Central, with the CSC Covid-safe accreditation awarded to all properties within the portfolio.

Bala Balasubramaniam, Chief Operations Officer: “The renovation of this building is a hugely successful transformation story and I am so proud of the team. The high specification, expertly refurbished apartments and welcoming communal areas will offer our guests a work, stay and rest model of serviced living with expert concierge on hand at all times.”

Location background

The new development is within five minutes’ walk of The Oracle, a large indoor shopping and leisure mall, and approximately one mile from Reading train station, with regular access by bus. A convenient mini supermarket sits opposite, and a wide choice of restaurants can be found close by along the river front, with al-fresco dining when the weather permits.

Reading is part of the London commuter belt, with many choosing to live outside of the capital’s hustle and bustle, whilst commuting in when necessary. Reading is also home to the headquarters of several UK companies which have become an important factor within the local economy of this historic market town.

Sitting along the River Thames and the Kennet & Avon Canal, Reading is at the heart of the Thames Valley and England’s new touring route, the Great West Way. Forbury Gardens is a mere 10-minute walk from the apartments, a neat public park with a dainty bandstand and ample lawns that fill up with office workers at lunchtime on pleasant days. The Grade I listed ruins of Reading Abbey is also walkable as is Reading Museum which contains exhibits on the town’s history and displays a Victorian replica of the Bayeux Tapestry.

Guests looking to venture into the Berkshire countryside will also be spoilt for choice: there are golf courses a plenty; the Roman city of Silchester; Mapledurham House, an exquisite Elizabethan stately home and Wellington Country Park with its 350 acres of forest, woven with four nature trails and a habitat for fallow and red deer.
