Given the fact that summer 22 will be the first restriction-free (fingers crossed!) summer since 2019, we thought we’d help you make the most of what the capital has to offer. We've picked out our favourite things to do, whether you want to vibe out at music festivals, eat and drink your way around London or just watch a film under the stars, we got you covered:
Explore this year’s very zen Serpentine Pavilion (All summer)
Every year, the Serpentine Pavilion shows up at the start of summer, and this time around it’s designed by American artist Theaster Gates. Over the course of the summer, the pavilion will host a series of concerts – including performances by jazz drummer Moses Boyd.
Get weird at the Stranger Things experience (18th August)
Fresh off the back of its final season, the Stranger Things experience looks set to be one of the best things to do in London this summer. Channel your inner Eleven and unlock your power as you take an immersive journey through Hawkins Lab – joined by your favourite characters. Afterwards, an 80s-style medley of fan-favourite moments with merch, food & drinks, photo ops, and interactive performers await.
Celebrate Field Day’s 15th Birthday (20th August)
Since the first Field Day in 2007, the staple east London all-dayer hasn’t lost its edge. From Kraftwerk’s legendary 3D show and The Chemical Brothers’ epic live performance to emerging underground DJs like Logic 1000 and Heléna Star, this birthday party is due to be a cracker.
Barbican Outdoor Cinema (23rd – 28th August)
Showcasing the iconic concert film ‘Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii’, the Japanese production ‘Mothra’ and the extraordinary fantasy ‘Princess Mononoke’. A diverse range of highlights for the Barbican’s beautiful outdoor screen.
Party at Notting Hill Carnival (27th – 29th August)
A massive celebration of Caribbean heritage in London, this is an event with incredible food, funky music, and exciting arts and culture. Expect a charged crowd and a weekend filled with laughter.
