Location: Charlotte Street
One of London's oldest neighbourhoods, Fitzrovia once housed many luminaries including author George Orwell and American Revolutionary Thomas Paine. One of London's most well-known parks, Fitzroy Square is named after the former owner of the property, Charles Fitzroy, Duke of Grafton, just like the rest of Fitzrovia. The area around Charlotte Street is home to new media, advertising, and architecture firms and is dotted with lodgings, art galleries, and bustling vintage taverns making it the perfect destination for young professionals and families alike.
These serviced apartments are a short stroll from Oxford Street, where you’ll find plenty of high street brands, designer names and flagship stores to browse. Be sure to stop by the Liberty London department store – the Tudor-revival building itself is a treat, as are the luxury and premium stores inside (and of course, all things Liberty print!). In Soho, head to pedestrianised Carnaby to enjoy more than 100 stores including global names, British heritage labels, independent boutiques, one-off concepts, beauty emporiums, and bespoke jewellers. The cobbled streets of the Newburgh Quarter are where you’ll find cool independent stores selling everything from fashion to homeware and art. Need a breather? Kingly Court is Carnaby’s iconic three-story al-fresco food and dining destination with 25 restaurants to choose from.
In just a few minutes’ walk from our apartments you’ll find a huge variety of cafés, pubs and restaurants. Just up Charlotte Street, Italia Uno is a beloved sandwich bar – get there early to avoid the queues! Or check out Shoop Soup for a globally-inspired menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too. The Riding House Café is a great place for a delicious brunch or casual breakfast meeting, or try Lore of the Land where you’ll find seasonal pub classics and excellent pints. There are plenty of dinner options in the vicinity offering a vast array of cuisines. Argentinian food and wine is served in a lavishly designed restaurant at Gaucho, which also seeks to be as environmentally-friendly as possible. At Hakkasan Hanway you can sample mouth-watering Cantonese cuisine with a Michelin-star experience; or check out 28°-50° Oxford Circus for delicious European food in chic surrounds, and a curated wine list to pair.
The proximity to London’s West End – it’s walkable in under 20 minutes – means theatre lovers can kick off the evening with a show. Head to the Dominion Theatre for musicals, catch Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre or check out comedy and cabaret at The Soho Theatre. Fancy a cocktail? There are plenty of options to choose from! Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals is a feast for the eyes, with flora and fauna to match the botanical-inspired cocktails served at this Fitzrovia bar. At Bourne & Hollingsworth Bar, you can enjoy imaginative concoctions in quaint surroundings, with wall murals galore. If you like seated service, head to Goodge Street where you can sample innovative takes on classic drinks at the ‘secret’ underground bar Reverend J W Simpson.
