Introduction
Stretching between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, this is one of the capital’s oldest areas. It’s one of the busiest too, with all genres of entertainment found right on your doorstep, including a huge variety of restaurants, bars and numerous cultural landmarks. Get the full Elizabethan era experience by going aboard the Golden Hinde, a 16th-century reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake’s Galleon; or visit Shakespeare’s Globe, a reconstruction of the playhouse for which the renowned bard wrote his plays. While here, explore modern and contemporary art at the Tate Modern, with immersive installations in the iconic Turbine Hall. History buffs will also enjoy a tour of the nine decks of HMS Belfast, a warship that survived World War 2; or head across Tower Bridge to the iconic Tower of London, a World Heritage Site where you can explore the castle and meet the famous ravens that guard the tower. And of course, you can take in the city skyline at the Shard, London’s highest public viewing gallery.

The Hays Galleria, a redeveloped wharf, has now become a shopping complex, exuding its history in its glass-roofed walkway. Browse the market stalls for arts and crafts, and souvenirs. Or hop on the Jubilee line and get to London's most popular shopping district around Oxford Street. Foodies should head to famous Borough Market to stock up on amazing produce to enjoy in your apartment, or sample divine food from the many stalls inside this historic building. Borough Market is one of the largest and oldest food markets in the capital and has a long heritage – there’s been a market on the site dating back to the twelfth century!

Night Life
There are so many bars in the immediate vicinity, you truly are spoiled for choice! Try retro-styled Electric Shuffle for drinks and shuffleboard games under the arches of London Bridge station. At Katzenjammers, lederhosen-clad staff will serve you Bavarian beers at wooden benches while a live oompah band entertains the beer hall. On Holyrood Street, Nine Lives is an amazing snug neighbourhood gem of a cocktail bar, offering brilliant drinks and a great soundtrack in a Victorian basement. And there are, of course, plenty of traditional pubs and taverns – The George, a 17th-century coaching inn, is one of London’s oldest pubs and featured in Charles Dickens’ Little Dorrit. Or for a drink with riverside views, head to the beer garden at The Anchor – it’s the sole survivor of the river taverns of Shakespeare’s day, having been rebuilt after the great fire of London.
