Location: Salusbury Road
Queen’s Park is packed with Victorian and Edwardian houses clustered around the eponymous 12-hectare park, where you’ll find beautiful flower gardens, tennis courts, a golf course, bandstand, playground and paddling pool. Salusbury Road is undoubtedly the area’s community hub, offering a range of independent shops, cafés and eateries to explore. With excellent transport links, you’re well situated to get across the capital: Queen’s Park station is a four-minute walk away, with trains to Euston and Paddington, and the chic neighbourhoods of Kensal Rise, Notting Hill and West Hampstead are all easily accessible. Heathrow is a 45-minute drive away via the M4. The Regent’s Park is only 20 minutes from your serviced apartment, where you can hire a rowing boat, enjoy the abundant greenery, visit the open-air theatre or London Zoo. Primrose Hill is an excellent spot to take in the iconic London skyline.
There is a plethora of high street and independent brands along and around Salusbury Road, ranging from organic grocery shops to artisan cafés and esteemed eateries. The family-friendly weekly farmer’s market takes place just opposite Viridian Apartments, offering free range and organic produce as well as items sold by artisans. Bookworms should check out family-owned Queen’s Park Books, carrying classic and contemporary reads; it is also the partner of the annual Queen’s Park Book Festival. Further down the street, Ediit carries a range of women’s fashion brands, such as Fabienne Chapot, M.A.B.E., and Samsoe + Samsoe. Towards Kensal Rise, you’ll find plenty of boutique fashion, homeware and gifting stores on hip Chamberlayne Road. And iconic Portobello Road Market is only 25 minutes from your serviced apartment, with stalls selling antiques, bric-a-brac, fashion and more – the perfect spot for treasure hunters. Although the market is open every day of the week, on Saturdays you’ll find all its vendors are in full swing; the energy, colour and hustle is inescapable.
Salusbury Road offers an array of gastropubs and independent restaurants just a few moments’ walk away. Dark Habit, right next door to your apartment, is the place to go for seasonal, single origin, speciality coffee. For meals out, chic eatery Milk Beach offers all-day dining options, from brunch and sharing plates to mouth-watering mains; all inspired by the diverse cultures that make up modern Australian cuisine. Sushi fans need look no further than Michiko Sushino, where you’ll find traditional yet modern Japanese dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. And at Carmel, you can enjoy delicious Eastern Mediterranean dishes throughout the day as it has a sizeable brunch, lunch and dinner menu. If you want to put your kitchen to good use while staying with us there is a Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, and Planet Organic all in walking distance from your apartment.
There are some lovely bars and pubs in close walking distance. Wolfpack is a popular local spot to meet with friends and colleagues for a relaxed evening - the industrial-chic bar offers eight rotating taps of the freshest local craft beer as well as a wine selection, and everyone is welcome! The Salusbury Pub has been under the same management for 20 years and is a real community gem: with pavement tables, it’s a great place to enjoy a sunny evening. Kensal Rise’s iconic Chamberlayne Road is just a 20-minute walk away and will provide even more variety when it comes to cool bars and lovely pubs. While you’re here, stop in at the Lexi, London’s only social enterprise cinema. The independent picture palace is run by volunteers and shows everything from mainstream films to live opera, with proceeds going to charity.
