Swindon is a modern and diverse town steeped in heritage. STEAM -Museum of the Great Western Railway is set in a restored station, with old locomotives and train carriages including Queen Victoria’s Royal Saloon. Or learn about the history of tech and digital developments at the Museum of Computing. A short walk from Swan Place is The Lawns, featuring the remains of an Italian sunken garden, woods, meadows, trails and more. The park also hosts events such as the Old Town Festival. Further afield, the Cotswold Water Park, which covers an area of 40 square miles with more than 170 lakes, is just 14 miles from Swindon.
The town centre has a great selection of high street and independent stores to kick-off your shopping experience! Also, housed within the beautifully restored Grade II listed buildings of the Great Western Railway, the popular Outlet Village boasts a huge variety of shops and brands, not to mention restaurants and coffee shops, many of which stay open until late. And for bookworms, just a few steps away from our serviced apartments you’ll find Bert’s Books - you can even have a coffee and cake while you browse for your next read!
Combine fine wine and super dining in one of the many top restaurants with an evening out to the theatre or cinema perhaps? Whether you’re looking for Italian or Indian, café culture or fine dining or maybe just a pulled pint in one of the many pubs, Swindon has it all. Near your serviced apartments you’ll find popular Los Gatos, a bustling Spanish restaurant with a vibrant menu of dishes such as paella and tapas. For pubs, The Hop Inn has a lovely all-weather garden, and its quirkier sister venue, The Little Hop, is just a few doors away. Further up the road, family-run Timmy’s Bar offers drinks, nibbles and a warm welcome – it’s a neighbourhood fave.
There’s plenty of wonderful places to enjoy the evening in Old Town. The Wyvern Theatre and Swindon Arts Centre offer a great programme of comedy, music, dance and exhibitions. The Tuppenny, a two-minute walk from your serviced apartment, offers great drinks and live music, with Thursday nights given over to original grassroots and underground music and Sundays reserved for folk.
